James Lyons Producer/Screenwriter
James Lyons was born in Lodi, CA. He moved to Central Oregon in 1989 where he was raised and attended school. James began putting together story lines before he could even write. He was putting together plays down in the basement with all his friends just to show his parents. Throughout school he began writing short stories and began to work on his first independent novel at age 13. In high school his writing skills truly developed as he began finding interest in poetry and song writing. He began to take classes such as Shakespearian studies, poetry, short story, and much more. His senior year he found an extreme interest in film to literature. From there his love of film and comedy took full swing. Writing his own standup and performing at local armature clubs he found a real talent in speaking and comedic writing. After realizing that his passion for standup just was not completely what he wanted. He began to look at producing sketches and founded the sketch comedy group JRL ENT. After a few independent ventures the crew split and went in there own directions. James went to college for journalism and after a while realized that it was not his place. After a few years of writing short stories and struggling to put together another sketch comedy team, James was presented an opportunity to produce an independent film. He began to write a screen play and began to try and find someone with a stronger back ground in producing, and running equipment. James began to get back into touch with an old friend, Rob Scribner (founder of SPS). After seeing the writing strengths of James he decided to help out. Eventually SPS moved back to central Oregon and soon James Lyons took JRL ENT and fostered it under the production company Silver Phoenix Studio. That is how James came to be paired with Rob Scribner as a writer and marketer for SPS, complimenting the other many skills that Rob had already brought to the company. |

Suggested Reading: In The Blink of an Eye
Here is some awesome reading about editing. If anyone is aspiring to be a great editor, you have to learn about Walter Murch. Walter Murch has edited a many number of great films and won many award with his editing such as Apocalypse Now, The Conversation, The God Father, The English Patient...etc. He has been pioneering the way of editing for years now and setting what seems to be an impossible standard. More importantly than good editing, Walter goes into the psychology of the human mind and why editing works. We must first understand the human mind in order to produce great work. I highly recommend you read this book whether you are and editor or want to break into the film industry. So do yourself a favor and read it...or we will come to your house break your windows. No just kidding...James will go to your house and break your window. |

On the Horizon: We have been trying to figure out our company logo for the beginning to our films and have a couple of concepts. Here is one we just recently created. We are trying to create something that feels epic every time you see it. This has been an on going project for a few years now but I think we are closing in on the final design. Hope you enjoy. |
